The US Census Bureau surveyed Black Hawk County and found unemployment for ages 16-19 to be almost twice as high in our area compared to the national average, highlighting work as an underutilized tool for equipping our teens and strengthening our community.

Research has shown that working just a few hours each week as a teen can increase the likelihood that that teen will later attend college, and decrease the likelihood that they’ll be involved in crime activity.
